FAQ
Does this tool need internet?
The first visit downloads a local dictionary of about 3.8MB (then cached in your browser for offline use). Translation, phonetic, and pronunciation all run locally with no data uploaded.
Why only single words?
The local dictionary is a slimmed ECDICT covering about 43k common words, ideal for word/phrase lookup. Full-sentence translation would need a larger model or translation API.
How does pronunciation work?
It uses the browser built-in SpeechSynthesis API, English via en-US, Chinese via zh-CN, with no server involved.
